Frederick L. Bloom, M.D. 


Dr. Frederick Bloom, Allergy Sarasota

Dr. Bloom did his undergraduate and medical school in his home state of Wisconsin, then did his post graduate and allergy training at the University of Florida College of Medicine.  He figured with the name Bloom he had to be an allergist.  He is currently an assistant clinical professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine.  He was the founding medical director of "Sunshine Station" a camp for children with pulmonary diseases. 

He has been president of the Florida Lung Association of Southwest Florida; a member of the fire ant committee of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and of the insect committee of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.  He is a past President of the Florida Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Society.  He was selected for inclusion in the book, Best Doctors in America.  He has done research and published articles in medical journals on allergy medications, asthma medications, and the imported fire ant, and on the camp for children with asthma.

Dr. Bloom served in the United States Navy and was in Cuba during the Cuban Crisis.  Dr. Bloom enjoys being a physician and especially the interaction and taking care of patients.

Outside the office Dr. Bloom enjoys adventure travel, running marathons, animals of all kinds especially boxer dogs, and his family.

Ari Y. Zelig, M.D.


Dr. Ari Zelig, Allergy Sarasota

Dr. Zelig is Board Certified in Allergy & Immunology. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After working in the field of special education, he attended The Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program of Tel Aviv University.  Dr. Zelig then moved to New York for his postgraduate training.  He completed a residency in Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital and is a board certified pediatrician.  He then pursued his fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

He has presented at several annual meetings of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), as well as the World Allergy Organization (WAO).  His research has largely focused on food allergy.  His original research is published in Allergy and Asthma Proceedings, and he has had additional abstracts and case reports published in other medical journals.  Dr. Zelig particularly enjoys the field of Allergy and Immunology because it allows for long term follow up with patients of all ages and a wide spectrum of conditions. He is thrilled to have moved to Sarasota and to join the wonderful team at Allergy Associates.
